Since starting this blog in the dog days of last summer, I’ve shared more than two dozen articles with a steadily growing readership. I know it’s steadily growing because the host platform charts the number of subscribers for me.
That’s gratifying, but it doesn’t tell me what I really want to know. After each new article is posted, I’m showered with automatically generated statistics. There’s a rolling tally of how many times a post has been viewed. Not how many actually read it, just how many have seen it. The ticker tells me how many liked an article, how many have commented, how many have shared it.
