As soon as a new article is published here, the emails start coming. Some simply say thanks, others elaborate a bit on what they found valuable. Some agree with me, some disagree. Of those who take exception, most have a beef with a point or two, a few are put off by the whole thing. I value it all, pro and con, but find myself wishing they’d share their thoughts with my readers and not just me, so all could benefit from the varied perspectives.
Then there are the comments that go off on tangents, straying far from the subject of the article. No great harm in that, it’s the way conversations go, one thought triggers another, which brings something else to mind. We’re all prone to tangents at one time or another.
The other kind of feedback I get shouldn’t bug me, but I admit it does. No matter what I write, someone will dress me down for what I left out. Sometimes the comment comes off as accusatory, implying deliberate omission of vital details to pull the wool over readers’ eyes. More …
