I wrote the other day that one of the proper responses to the daily carnage we’re experiencing in this country is to act as if the entire Second Amendment matters, all 27 words. On another online forum, one man I heard from wanted none of it, telling me and others agreeing with me that we had no clue, were deflecting and ignoring the real problems, were willing to give up our rights for some feeling of security.
Then he pivoted, saying “You want to feel safe and secure? Buy guns. Take training courses. Learn to defend yourself. Government will not help you . . . wake up.” He went on: “Are you able to defend yourself and your family? Or will you rely on law enforcement to protect you? I’m sure they will supply the body bags. Obviously you would never defend your rights given to you by the United States constitution. You actually believe government will save you. Laughable. I really hope you need to defend yourself and your family one day.”
