Greetings!

Welcome to Ebiyan House, the online hearth and home of the author of the novel Miracles Along County Q. This Substack made its debut in July 2022 under the name More Verb Than Noun and five months later was honored as Best New Wisconsin Substack. If it’s true certain things should never be discussed in polite company, this is a most impolite journal. Stuff most of us avoid talking about with family and friends—politics, religion, sex, race, class and other cultural divides—is regularly hashed over here, in ways that restore hope.

What’s in the name?

Ebiyan House is a wondrous place that figures prominently in Miracles Along County Q. Nothing’s for sale there, the front door’s never locked, except that once. Can say no more, for fear of spoiling the fun of experiencing the story from beginning to end. By the way, it’s pronounced abe-ee-yon.
