This really resonates with me. We’ve lost the sense of civic responsibility and community. All the people complaining that No Kings wouldn’t make a difference are wrong . I feel a great sense of community and doing something that is my civic responsibility. We need to keep speaking out and standing up TOGETHER.

Football! That's the foundation of our existence. All life is like a football game Red and blue - fight to win.

As with the rest of life never staying the same, the colors we wear to show our allegiances change too. Some of what's now considered red America will turn blue, some of what's now seen as blue will become red. The area where I grew up is now one of the reddest parts of Wisconsin. Trump won Clark County by nearly 40 percentage points in 2024. When I was young, the area was represented by Democrats. Dave Obey in Congress during my entire upbringing, Tom Harnisch in the state senate for almost as long, Frank Nikolay in the state assembly when I was very young. Some longtime Republican voters will be voting for Democrats in this year's mid-term elections, wait and see.

I guess my main point is what people pay their attention to. I have written about it several times in my "Brandless Existence" Substack, based on articles that appeared in the NYT that praised football as the greatest thing on earth and that those who focus on "politics" are a bunch of losers who need to get a life.

A good example is titled "Salesmanship - Football is Beautiful and Democracy is Just Politics."

Baseball's a far greater thing.
